Follow Your Northern Neighbour commissioned the internationally celebrated embroidery designer Mike Parr to create a unique work of art which was inspired by the 2023 IAGSDC convention.
Mike combined the themes of Pride, Ottawa, and The Wizard of Oz in threads of silk and cotton that are worked on a ground of Dupioni silk. The design is then accented with gold-plated wire and imitation metallics that use traditional goldwork techniques dating back to the Tudor period.
This results in a framed art work which comes to life when light strikes it, causing the threads to dance among the glitter of reflected gold.
This keepsake would serve as a wonderful memory of your time in Ottawa. Including the frame, it’s about 13” x 15” and we’ll have lots of bubble-wrap so you can get it home easily.
This item will be raffled off during Follow Your Northern Neighbour next July in Ottawa and tickets are available now. One ticket is $10 and you can get 4 tickets for $30.
